Development

This is not a compliance-only statement. We believe in accessibility as a core value at The KBP. Here's how this website was developed and tested, throughout the process.

This site was made with love by Jessica Oddi. We decided on Webflow as a base. That way WCAG 2.2 guides and personal practices could be built in easily for the Podcast.

Building Specifics

  • Larger, relative scaled font sizes and clickable areas.
  • Accessible color contrast, with softer backgrounds and less pops of vibrant colours.
  • Manually added transcripts for the Podcast, until Spotify's closed captions can be implemented

Testing Methods

  • Keyboard-only navigation.
  • Cross-browser testing in Google Chrome, Safari, Opera, and Firefox.
  • Desktop assistive tech using VoiceOver on Safari, and Narrator on Microsoft Edge.
  • Mobile assistive tech using TalkBack and Voice Access on a Samsung Galaxy S20 Pro with Google Chrome.

Possible Issues

  • Episodes have basic audio tag, which are styled to browser defaults. Low contrast on hover or focus states may occur.
  • Episode song section is an embedded link from Spotify. Accessibility is based on their player build.
